Dr. Heidi Kohltfarber is the owner and managing oral and maxillofacial radiologist for Dental Radiology Diagnostics and a key opinion leader for Dentsply Sirona, Henry Schein, Patterson Dental and a consultant for CDOCs. In addition, she is an adjunct professor in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an assistant clinical professor in the Department of General Diagnostic Radiology at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loma Linda University in 2003 and in 2012 she received her master’s degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology from UNC-Chapel Hill achieving her diplomate status with the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology in 2013. In 2017, Dr. Kohltfarber received her PhD in Diagnostic Imaging with an emphasis in craniofacial radiology at King’s College London. In 2019, she was inducted as a fellow into the International College of Dentists as well as the Academy of Dentistry International. She was voted onto the Executive Council of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology as the Councilor of Communications in 2022.

Her research interests include: 2D vs 3D imaging of root canal treated teeth with apical radiolucencies, diagnostic efficacy of 3D surface models specifically in the region of the temporomandibular joints, applications of Cone Beam CT in dentistry, diagnostic decisions and treatment planning in 2D vs 3D as well as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the maxillofacial region.
